Larry,

My name is Ira and I was glad to see that you too had a General Engine. My son found one of these in a trash dumpster and brought it home, when we got to looking at it we noticed that the cam rod had came out and the cam was out of time, so we took it all a part to reline the timing marks and discovered that there were no timing marks on anything. Did your engine have marks on the crank and cam? I seen where you had a manual for yours, does it indicate the relation between the crank and cam? If you can help me out in anyway I would sure appreciate. Thank you.

Ira

Well I picked up serial number 23430 Model D today.Type 21.All but the gas tank and it's bracket. Not stuck, has been painted and put on a skid of sorts.
Sadly there is some damage to the exhaust threads.I aint too good with Google but this was the ONLY link that came up when I searched for this.

Well I unbolted this engine from this skid and was going to install it on a nicer 1. I found my engine is not a "prime" example so to speak. I found a chunk gone from the shroud that the screw goes into to hold it on the engine. I found 2 fins broke off the cylinder head and it has NO compression and very little spark.
And what kind of spark plug fits it? It had 2 big washers under a common plug and it was not tight.must be a very short plug as in the electrode section.
