Default Briggs model 170432. Sorry, no pictures.

When I was working on my 140302 model Briggs I needed to find a starter clutch for it. While digging in my hoard I found a Briggs model 170432 in a dark corner of my shop. This is some information about it that some may find helpful.

Model # 170432= 17 cubic inches and 7 horsepower.

Type #1037-01

Code # 7206020 = 1972 model.

It had half of a unknown brand of water pump bolted to the backside of the block.

It has a 1-1/2 inch PTO shaft that has right hand threads to secure the impeller. PTO shaft is appox. 3-3/4 inches long. The end of the PTO shaft is reduced to one inch and is threaded 1-14 UNS. After looking closer, there appears to be a sleeve pressed on to the one inch shaft and has a key slot to lock it in place.

I had to drill several holes between the impeller and the PTO shaft to get the impeller off. No damage to the crank or threads.

It is a Easy spin engine.

Had a replaceable foam air filter at one time.

It does have good spark and good compression.

It is painted gold and had a rectangular fuel tank, now gone.

I have not tried to start it yet as the flywheel is rubbing on something when I spin it over. Will be pulling the blower housing.

The back removable cover has 8 bosses for mounting items.

3 bolt Flo-Jet carb.

2 fill plugs and 2 drain plugs.

After I run it and decide it is good enough to use, I will pickle it for future use.

Once again, sorry about no pictures.
