Photo 1937 Briggs WM finished!

I finaly found the correct decals for a Briggs WM sold through Montgomery Wards I have been restoring. Finished it up today, thought I would post some pics of it. It was built in March 1937. Still has the original oil pump. I made the bracket to display the exhaust hose and original cast muffler. The wrench was for the spark plug, oil fill cap and oil drain plug. I got the decals on ebay from bladesmithbendor, great guy to deal with.

You did a beautiful job. Congrats. Got a few Briggs myself. Neat looking little engines. Keep up the good work.

Very nice! I like the "exhaust system"! Might do that on my next one.

It looks great. I really like the bracket to display the flex pipe/muffler.
Those little air cooled engines are about as neat as any in my book.
I really like them "over restored" like yours. (I doubt the originals were done quite as nice). Kevin

Thumbs up Re: 1937 Briggs WM finished!

Beautiful job ! As mentioned earlier, your attention to detail really makes the difference. I too, like "over restoring" and making them look better than when they were new..

You made history "come to life"

Thanks for all the replys. I don't restore nice originals but when I do one I try to do a nice job. I have several projects including more WM's, I can't seem to get enough of them. I have one that has a "Dexter" washing machine decal on the shroud. I would really like to find a better picture if anyone has one. Some letters are missing but I believe it says " Special redhead" on it. I havn't seen another one. If anyone has one please post a picture or pm me. Thanks, Den

Almost looks like one decal was applied over another one. Think I would try soaking off the second decal to get a better view of the first one which would be the rarer one. Might be tricky though not to destroy them further.

Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned the Dexter decal was added on top of the original Briggs decal from under the Briggs name down. The rest of the engine is a standard WM with the Briggs brass tag. It does still have the oil pump also.

Sweet engine Restoration!! Great attention to details. I have purchased a lot of decals from bladesmithbendor, quality items.
Thanks for sharing, would love to see a video of the engine running.

Yea, it's amazing how quiet the engine is with the hose and muffler. This hose is 5ft. long and I believe they were originaly closer to 8ft. long. The cast iron hose muffler is quieter than the tin hose mufflers.

No, I don't currently have a video of it running. I'm afraid the limits of my computer skills are smokestak and emails. I'll work on that.
