Mark , Could it be for LP or Nat. Gas. Ihave never seen one , but I know some LP carbs were made. I'm just giving it a BIG GUESS !!!

The first thing that I thought of was "drag saw".

Bob,
I do suspect it for some type of city or natural gas carb! I have a thought but I want to gather more info first. I need to get it in my hands and confirm or discount the dimensions the seller gave me for the flange. And see if I can prove natural or city gas. But just because flange dimensions and screw hole centers match does not really prove anything. They can be purely coincidental. I may never be able to prove application despite circumstantial evidence. Mark

PS: I suspect it is of a 1920 vintage. Hopefully there are markings on the carb body that the seller missed seeing.
OK gotta get to the garage and finish the next article for the Club newsletter. Mark

I don't think it's natural gas. Other than the filtered air intake, it reminds me of an early Evinrude outboard carb. Wonder if it was something special for the Merry Garden tractor that used that engine?
