Default Maytag Model 92 Quit Running

Maytag model 92. First timer here. Tore her all apart, striped their down to bare metal, new paint and all new gaskets. Slapped her back together and she started with about 4 or 5 kicks. She ran for about 2 minutes and quit. Now she won’t fire back up. Kicks over just fine. Seems to have ok spark and black oily fuel drips on the ground through the exhaust. Anybody have suggestions on what to check first?

Pull the carb and examine the check valve , could have a piece of trash in it, or stuck.

Another thing to check is needle valve position. Take the little lever off the needle valve and turn the needle all the way in to the right. then reinstall the lever all the way to the right. Sometimes the needle is open too far and flooding the engine. A lot of the ones I work on have this problem. You only have the 180 degree range to work with. Good luck.

When I posted someone suggested I blow and inhale into the intake on the "Carb" (fuel mixer). They said that if the poppet is working correctly you should be able to hear it rise and fall....I don't know if that helps but, there it is! Good luck.

Thanks for the advise! I did blow on the carb and it seemed to be sticking so I took it apart and cleaned it and she fired up on the 2nd kick. I certainly appreciate those who gave advise.
