Default Maytag model 19 odd kill switch. Original?

I just picked up a model 19 original engine. I started to disassemble it before taking pictures but the magneto plate has two wires pruning through the mag backing plate. Is this possibly a way to kill the engine? It doesn't have the steel rod the runs to the spark plug but just could be missing as the engine was missing a few parts. Also does anyone know the correct part number for the kick pedal? The one that looks like the early twin with two 45 degree bends. The serial number on the flywheel is 725167. Thanks for any help/opinions.

tony, i dont know anything about the wires on your backplate but the kick pedal # is
S295. the magneto upright used wires going to a switch for the engine shutoff.

By the serial number, your engine was built in June 1936.

Clement, is the offset pedal from the early twins the same as the 92 model 19? Thanks

As far as I know the only engine to use that kick pedal is the model 19.

Do a search on this site, there are a couple good threads on the 19 with part number info on the kick peddle assembly

Clement, do you have a part number for the segment gear? Also I know it is a long shot but I could really use one to complete mind. Thanks again for all the help. -Tony-

I don't think that kill switch is original. Nothing in the Maytag parts catalogs shows such a switch set up.

Kevin I agree with you the more I dug into it it looks like it was done along time ago. The lead coming from the coil had a wire soldered to it about 4 inches away from the coil.

Clement thanks for checking for me! I'll be looking for a segment gear and putting an ad here in the classified ads.
Thanks again -Tony-
