Nice find. I have a model 1B-7 that pretty much looks like your engine. Is that carburetor factory or has a different one been adapted to work on yours ? Mine is a Zenith updraft with a governor to control engine speed. Yours does not appear to a governor hooked to the carb. To me your carb looks to be of a Briggs & Stratton engine. I like those engines, but have seen very few of them.

I see yours has a kill switch button on the blower housing. Mine has a empty hole, but now after seeing yours, I have a idea what fits in the hole.

Thanks for chiming in EvilDr235. I suspect you're correct regarding the carb. It looks more recent and is too close to one of the bolt heads behind it. No governor.

This one turns over smoothly. I'll do an oil change and see if it'll start.

If anyone has information regarding date of manufacture, application, etc. I am, of course, interested.

It appears to be a Briggs & Stratton Flo-Jet carb. In the picture the intake manifold appears to have been cut and brazed to a different angle to fit the carb. I don't see a governor shaft sticking out of the block like mine has. Go to the Carburetor, mixers, fuel pumps and fuel delivery section and read the Fairbanks Morse by Onan carb question post for pictures of the proper carb. and some related information.
