Default Battery Charger

Can someone help me find a part for my charger ,I think they are power transistors the part no. S838 I need two of them

It is a Diehard Model 200.71223 & on the parts they both have the same no. S838 and 3G021, They look like a power transistor, Jerry B

Are these on the heat sink? If yes then they are SCR's not transistors. Just look at the chargers rating and locate the output from them, this will determine the anode and cathode the other is the gate (control). Pick up a couple that match yours and go a little higher in current rating. For most of these chargers they don't use sensitive gate or any other peculiar ratings so a general rating should cover it. What happened to yours, they generally short.

The Sears Parts online lists the module as "SCR Control Module" (no longer available) so the chips may be SCR's (silicon controlled rectifier, sometimes called a thyristor).

If I could see the board, I might be able to suggest a replacement...

A quick online search didn't find a reference to either part number.

The Japanese leave out the front letter occasionally, try a 2SD838, that is a Sanyo transistor.
