Default Electrolysis Question

Will electrolysis damage babbit bearings? I am considering putting my 2HP Witte engine base in the electrolysis tank, but I am concerned about the babbit bearings.

What exactly are babbit bearings ? I have used electrolysis extensively and it damanges nothing that I have seen, just attacks rust.
