Default Need opinion on Onan 6.5NH-3CR/16004P Gen Set

I'm considering buying an Onan 6.5NH-3CR/16004P generator. Can anyone give me an idea of a fair price (assuming it's in good condition) and also, are they well built, reliable, etc. Thanks

My employer has a couple of NH units, they have been trouble free so far (about 8 years/1200 hours) for what that is worth.

The "fair" price question comes up a lot lately. My opinion- the only ones who can determine the "fair" price are buyer and seller. Every sale and every generator is different. A set that will bring $300 today when the sun is out and power is on will have people lined up to buy it for $900 when the power is off next week. (I will spare you my thoughts about that particular kind of price gouging) If you already have several generators, one more may be worth less. If you don't own a generator, your power is off, power company says "it will be a while" and your spouse is jumping up and down, you will be waving cash and looking for anything that will make a TV, microwave and a few lights work.

I have bought used sets for prices between "thank you" and hauling it off, to several thousand dollars. A generator is worth whatever you think it is when you buy it.

Wayne said it fairly well, as to market price, check what they are selling for on ebay (look at the completed auctions not asking price). Even when the sun is out price depends a lot on the season, up north price is higher in the fall and winter, in the south and coastal area it is highest in spring and summer due to hurricane season. If an NH is a good fit for what you want to do with a generator we can't tell you unless you tell a lot more about why you want it and what you intend to do with it.
