Default Fuller & Johnson 3HP Model K ?

Fuller & Johnson 3 HP Model K ? no name tag. Bought off ebay a while back, Don't know mutch about it and so I have have a few questions I hope someone can help me with. Should this engine have water injection ?, There is awhat appears to be some kind of guide or throttle stop on the throttle rod ?,And what year it might be. Heavy crowned flywheels and a good hot Splitdorf mag that just needed some retimming, She starts first pull on the mag and runs real smooth.

I think your engine is a model ka. I have a early 3hp k with skinny flywheels. It should have a valve in the head with a short line running over to the hole in the throttle housing for the water feed. The piece on the throttle rod is an oil dashpot. It is filled with kerosene and there is supposed to be a cover on top of it. It's purpose was to keep that rod from surging by acting like a little shock adsorber. My engine runs very smooth and steady.

I have of these. One of my best running engines. I like to bump start it. I use battery and coil. Also mine has a FM mixer. Finding the right mixer is an expensive endever. You can send the serial number in and find out the year and who it went to.

Phil this is a standard mid production model K engine. Yes it should have water injection. A special valve went where the brass pipe plug is on the head, a copper tube was soldered to that and went into that hole in the mixer elbow. I can get a pic of this tomorrow after work.

That piece on the throttle rod is the dash pot pin. It is not adjusted correctly and is missing the cover. You want the throttle lever to move freely from wide open to closed, at about half throttle the dashpot piston should be centered in the casting. This was filled with kerosene to stabilize the throttle rod. It is not necessary for just playing around and you can leave it empty. PM me if you want a cover, I made a bunch earlier this year.

From the pics your engine is between 1920 and 1923.

That is a nice engine. I have one just like that, but with a Sumter 3M magneto mounted over the cam gear. They do run smooth and it is a 1919 model
