Default World Threshing Record

Hi all,

I did some searching to see what was the current world record for threshing. The best I could find would seem to indicate that the most # of threshers operating at once was the Rock River Thresheree in 2008, 30 threshers. That's a lot! The youtube video is very impressive. Has anyone beat this, or is this the current accepted record? We need to know what to aim for! We're tentatively aiming for '13 or '14. It's still early in the feasibility/planning stage, but we've already generated a lot of local interest so it's worth asking anyway.

Thanks,

--Rob

I believe Rock River did 30 threshers twice. One time with steam traction engines and the second time with Gas, Diesel and kerosene tractors.

Will do, Scott! In some ways, this is gonna be lots more organizing than the plowing record. But we're also getting lots more interest too!

That's an awful lot of pitch forks & overalls, never mind tractors & threshers! Would be equally impressive to have representation from every province out for that one

I wonder if PEI has a threshing machine at all?

If things come together, we'll certainly have the western provinces covered, though.

Rob,

Pei does have "A" thresher in fact we were the leading manufacturer of wooden threshers back in the day. A company called Hall manufacturing won awards all over Canada and up and down the eastern seaboard of the US.Thomas Hall built all sorts of farm implements in Summerside,PE and shipped by sea all over North America, I think they even found one of his threshers in California, look at the map, that's quite a trip back in the late 18's early 19's.
We do still have some interest in this old machinery and I have put on threshing demonstration almost every year for 30 years at country fairs and exhibitions. We didn't see too many of the big steel machines that you have out west but lots of smaller wooden manufacturers here in PEI. We have one museum here right now I think their count is like thirty threshers in the collection.
Come on out some summer and we'll show you around our beautiful province.

This link takes you to a Olde Tyme Harvesting event. Is someone having a World Threshing Record event also?

If you read closely, they are talking about over 40 threshers in action...that'll be a record!

Hi all. I'm helping with organizing of the record setting Harvest for Hunger threshing event. We're shooting for about 40 working outfits with a few spares as back up. Thus far, we've got about 22 heavy traction engines, including about 8 steam engines. Other heavies include Rumleys, a 30-60 Aultman Taylor, a 20-40 Minneapolis plus others. The other 20 or so will consist of pre and post war JD's, Massey's, Olivers and such. Check the website http://www.oldetymeharvest.com/ in a few days and hopefully the tractors and their owners will be listed.

Well the big day has come and gone.It was a great show and a real credit to the organizing committee.Don't want to steal anyone's thunder so will wait for Richard or some of the other organizers to fill in the official results. Did recognize a few stakers there from the south but didn't get a chance to chat. I think one fellow from Estevan was packing a big camera so maybe he will post some pictures.

Hi Guys

Very impressive event! They did a great job!

With the crowds it was very hard to photograph the line up!

But I tried and here are my results... Ill start with a couple of panoramics.

The guys up in the aerial lift would have some good pictures!
