Default Florida Flywheelers Show coming up

Karen and I are thinking about getting out of Dodge (we live in Dodge County), and this long cold winter, and heading to this show in Florida.

Just curious, how does the size of this show, and time required see most everything, compare to Rollag?

Anybody been to both?

The engine part won't take long but the rest will take all day.

Both our vacation times have been approved. We'll head South on Saturday and start looking for warmer weather. Hopefully we'll be into Florida by Sunday night. Then we'll have a couple days to leisurely drive down to Fort Meade and take in the show Wednesday and maybe Thursday.

Anybody in Florida got any engine collections we could visit along the way?

Most of us will be at Flywheelers. Stop by row 1 spaces 11 + 12 and say hi. We're looking for good weather next week.

Will there be much for engine parts for sale in the "FLEA MARKET"?

If so, will we need one day to look for engine stuff, and one to see the rest of the show?

You might want to look at the weather for the trip down there!! Although I noticed your from Wisc, I think I would still take some winter clothes,at least above 0 down there, but ICE, in Georgia, Mom and Dad went there one year in the 90,s in a motor home pulling a trailer was a little scary in places with ICE.......

Rich, I did the same thing one year in the 90s, maybe the same year. Driving down pulling a trailer, hit freezing rain and the truck was covered with ice, luckly the roads stayed pretty decent. Had to knock the ice and crud off the headlights a couple times to see until we got farther south when it started getting warmer.

I will be there Friday this year, flying down. The temp. is supposed to be in the 80s.

Hi

I have spent as much as 4 days there and not seen all of the flea market.

You will need to rent a golf cart or have some king of transportation it is a very large layout.

Never been there but I've been told to call ahead to rent golf cart or chances are you might have a hard finding one.

Look out Flywheelers.

We made the panhandle and had time to enjoy one drink outside in our lawn chairs before the sun went down. Sat out for a few more just because we can for the first time in several months.

We're in Marianna for the evening, and will be sort of heading down the west coast tomorrow. We've got two days to get in the neighborhood, and should be at the show right away Wednesday.

See you then, Bob and Karen

We stopped by Elden's yesterday morning and got to see the nice "Homebrew" brand engines he has built, and the mighty Hoyt-Clagwell.

I thought it looked more like a Defective tractor, but he assures me it is in fact a Hoyt-Clagwell.

We stayed in Cross City last night, and we should be getting into the Fort Meade area this afternoon.

If anybody else will have a display at the Flywheeler's let me know, and I'll add you to the list of folks to look for.

See you all tomorrow, Bob and Karen

Is there any rhyme or reason to how the vendors are set-up? Do the Fairbanks people, the JD people, the Associated people, etc. tend to congregate in an area or is it potluck? I've never been to Flywheelers & I'm taking the trip down there for Friday to take in as much of the show as I can but I need to find some FM parts and some New Way parts and was looking for some pointers.

Also, I've got a most of a FM Z dishpan, a Wisconsin AENL and some misc. items that I'd like to try to part with but I'll only be there Friday - will I have to get a space and put a "for sale" sign on my stuff or is there some way/somewhere to do some "horse-trading" that won't ruffle any feathers?

There is a engine area but all the engine people don't set up there. I would just ask for a spot in the exhibit area and see what happens. I was there last night and there was some empty spaces due to guys not being able to take two weeks off for both shows.

SO, for those that have been there, what time does the show open to us general public folks?

I've seen some info that made me think 9am, and other info that made me think 8am, but I couldn't find anything that put a clear cut show start time.

We're 20 miles away in Wauchula, the couple in the next room from Ontario are going there as well, and another couple from Wisconsin can't find a room anywhere because of this show.

See you folks tomorrow morning, Bob and Karen

Greg:

thanks for the tip - i'll look into a show space; I've also got a for sale post in enginads in the medium engines area for what I'm bringing to the show - not much but it might help fund another project.
