Default Manitoba Threshermen's Reunion

Hi Everyone:
A quick reminder that our 60th annual show is a week away! July 24-27 in Austin Manitoba, this year we're featuring military history (specifically the two World Wars and their effect upon the farms). We will also have all the usual attractions, such as a parade, threshing contest, ploughing, stationary engines, historic village and evening rodeo.

2014 is a landmark year as well, as we're welcoming back to operation a number of engines with lap seam boilers. Rumour has it that our regular stable of engines should increase by 2-3 this year

Colin

Wish I could make the show this year. I always have a good time up their hanging out with all of my Canadian friends. Blow the whistle once or twice for me boys!

You all have a fun and safe time...and congratulations on getting the lap seam rule revoked. Enjoy those engines!

Lawrence

It's funny Uncle G how everyone can be sitting in the garden of refreshments, happy talking up a storm. Then one person can make one simple remark, just one simply comment, you know like, Advance Universal was the best steam engine ever built!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of a sudden the war is on, the tone is much different ???? Uncle G why can't I make them understand that I'm right?????? LOL Have a fun time! Grant

You could have a point Uncle G, after watching the performance of the Advance fleet at Wauseon this year!! I have decided that I will have to work even harder to convert a few people to my way of thinking! Could get interesting! LOL All joking aside Wauseon put on a great show with many, many beautiful engines!

Have a great time at Austin kids. I rank Austin as one of the great North American shows. Nice to hear the steam scene is getting livelier and from what I hear, there is more to come!
Now, please take some nice pictures for our enjoyment!
Aloha,
RM

Photos are yet to come (have to get them off my phone and shrunken down), but some personal highlights:

-Seeing 3 lap seam boilered engines running at the show! More to come next year!

-A certain Robert Bell traction engine expressing it's feminine side (someone decorated it with a frilly tutu on the stack, tiaras on the whistle & steam gauge, and a feather boa wrapped through the steering wheel).

-Earth-shaking exhaust noise from "Twister" (75 HP Case) on the dyne pulling 100HP

-Lots of engines and tractors stretching their legs on the SAM dyno, museum fan, and a private Prony brake (new to MB, and a really well built brake).

-A great jam session Friday night.

-A great selection of interesting military vehicles.

-Seeing all our friends from all over once again for a great week in July.

Colin

Colin don't forget the dueling 75 spark show that was well enjoyed by all. We're not pros and i think we had some beginners luck but a lot of people said it was the best they had seen in a while.

For many of us, this was one of the best years in recent memory. Lots of happy faces walking around, and great visiting with friends in the evenings.

We needed about 130psi to make that 100hp! That's the first time we really loaded it up that hard, too. It sure felt good to obtain that number.

I wish I had more pictures. We spent most of the show on the sawmill this year. But here's a few.
