Some interesting history on a local Ontario well drilling company from the Seaforth Ontario area that were long time customers of Sawyer Massey. They started off using a Sawyer Massey Steam engine for their bussiness and then switched over to Sawyer gas tractors later on in particular a Sawyer Massey 11-22 tractor

I’m still thinking about the 30-60 Sawyer question. I’m wondering if Mr Allan Byers was told by Mr Ewart Dearing about the high compression pistons in his tractor. It’s in the Diebold collection now maybe they know? I’m also wondering if that engine sounds different compared to a regular compression Sawyer?

Speaking of Allan Byers 30-60 Sawyer tractor here is a picture of Mr Byers and Sherwood Hume with both Mr Hume's 40-80 Minneapolis tractor and Allan's 30-60 Sawyer Massey tractor at Milton Steam Era back in the 1960's or 1970's

David, I doubt it sounds any different.
Compressions ratios then were peanuts to what they are now.

At what time did SM change the fenders on the model 11-22 ? as i have seen two or three different style's on the 11-22 tractors also when did they start or stop using the cast iron tanks on the fenders to oil the drive gear behind the rear wheels on the 11-22?

Straight sides at the start on 11-22 same as bigger tractors, 1917-1918. Straight side with small fenders after that, then no sides but a nice fender for the rest.

I see the cooling fan doesn't turn when the clutch is disengaged.

When did SM switch from the round wheel spokes to the flat spokes on the front wheels on the 11-22?

There are two 11-22's being auctioned off on the 16th of this month.
Aumann vintage power website, look at the Schurman Iron Ranch auction.

Lot 55 and lot 56 are two 11-22's project tractors.
