Default Maytag Lawnmower Engine?

This is a Maytag 2 cyl. engine that was on a mower. It still has the mower engine mounting bracket. Does anyone have an idea who the mower manufacter was ? Could it be a Goodall ?

Gary, looks like a standard model 72 twin turned side ways into a different mounting bracket, not sure who made the mowers though. I will ask.

Peter, Thanks for your reply. It is indeed a twin maytag that is mounted sideways. The mounting bracket and the rope starter pulley on top were probably supplied by the mower manufacture. I remember someone telling me that the first mower company to use a maytag engine was Goodall (?) right here in Missouri. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

I have seen a mower that used a Maytag engine but don't recall the manufacturer. I would think Maytag was big enough to build there own...

A quick Google search confirmed my thoughts and brought this up:

Thank you for looking for me at Mt. Pleasant this coming weekend. I sure that there are still some examples out there that stay at home and do not see many shows.

Talk to Jerry Nance at Odessa, Mo. He is the Maytag mower man. If he doesn't know, no one will!

David and Tom Thank you for your info. I will try to get hold of Jerry Nance. I think that Odessa is west of Boonville Mo. There show is the weekend after Labor Day. It could be that he will be there.

I know it is not a monitor or a goodall from photos i have seen unless it is a prototype or something.
