Best of luck guys. It is one of the great shows and it would be great to be able to be there this year - mais, c'est la vie!
Keep an eye on the lads in the beer gardens in the evenings and over at that engine shed/music parlour!

I sure wish I could be there to attend. That show is really one of my favorite places on this earth. It is a good and relaxing time for me and always have good friends.

We spent Friday at the show and had a great time. Lot's of stuff to see and some really neat demonstrations. I really enjoyed watching the threshing off between a gas tractor and steamer. Of course the steamer was able to get in the belt first. They even had horses pulling two wagons for each team, the gas and steam team. The threw a bunch of bundles out and started things off with having a competition, anyone could join in, no how fast you could set up a shock. Then the competition for the fastest threshing crew began with which could get in the belt first, steam or gas. The steam really shined at this. Then the four horse team wagons took off to load the shocks and algin themselves up to the threshers. Like I said, a neat demonstration.

After spending the day visiting with many of the engineers and looking over their steam displays, we spent yesterday crossing much of Saskatchewan visiting both Yorkton Western Development Museum and stopping off to see a pretty impressive ol' iron collection in western (darn near Alberta) Saskatchewan. We are on our return trip where we are planning to take in Moose Jaw Western Development Museum and also stop in and see Jack Beamish. Tomorrow we plan to be back in Austin for Bob Anderson's sale.

It has been 1200 miles, give or take a few miles, since we left for the trip. We have roughly about that many miles ahead of us to get back home. It has been a marathon of a run, but well worth it. Wish we could have taken in two days at the Autsin show, but wanted to see more of what Canada has to offer. As I said, a great show. Lot's to see and we were well treated. I didn't get to pull throttle on any engines, but I sure got to flap my gums a lot! Thanks to all those at the show that made both the Ruble's, Hall, and Swanz's feel so welcomed. Thanks.

Thanks for coming up to the show! It was great to meet you guys-sorry we missed getting you up on an engine, but that show has a habit of encouraging Gum-Flapping

We definitely need to repeat that steam engine smoke-box cooking context (and this time I won't miss out on that pizza)!

Lawrence,
Then I take it you & Jered were able to stop in and see "The Other" Big 40 Gaar? Lucky Dawgs!

Pizza chased down with lemonade no doubt?
(although I did get a call tonight telling about a record night in the beer gardens!)

Any beer garden travels were about 8-10 hours after the pizza... We figured that seeing as we're one of the first engines through the parade, but have to stick around for a humans Vs. steam tug of war, we'd better use our time to some good purpose. I'm pleased to report that the pizza was AWESOME (kudo's to my wife/fireman), and we're looking for a bigger pizza stone for next year.

I wonder if you could cook a bigger pizza in a 60 Case firebox?

I think you need to add the recipe to the cooking in the smokebox/firebox thread.

I haven't had much luck digging that thread up-my search mojo must not be as strong as yours?
