You might be a collector if you (And Your KIDS & Grandkids) know your engines by nick names of the guys you bought them from!!!!

Joe, Lad, Mugs, Syl, Uncle Don, Don, Arnie, Everett, etc.!

and of course, Dads!

Ray
You forgot Fred, and John, and Mas,(also known as little female Dog). What about having 3 generations (or more able to start those engines!).
You also make sure at all times that you have a vehicle with trailer pulling capabilities or a trailer or even a hayrack to haul engines on or in .
as you say Ray
Fun Later

1. You might be an engine collector if you wear a shirt that has the top 40 uses for WD 40. (I do)
2. You might be an engine collector if you meet a girl when you are putting up engine show posters. (I did)
3. You might be an engine collector if you work on greasy old engines in your church cloths. (I did once and my parents weren't happy)

I thought of this one the other day:

You might be an engine collector if you can find Coolspring, PA on a road map without using the index.

Can just about equal that:

Driving in Spain with my good lady, and sister they both suddenly shout out "ENGINE!!" before I had even seen the thing!

As it happens this didn't have a happy ending as we couldn't contact the owner and the van engine put a rod through the side on the way to catch the ferry a couple of days later. All covered under warranty in the end, but it was a fraught couple of days getting home with 3 engines on the trailer and being towed/transported back to the ferry.

We tried again the following trip a couple of years later, but the owner reckoned it was used for spares and they had another one running. I didn't believe him as the engine was in the same place the previous trip and hadn't moved. Full story in the trip reports section on our website.

Next trip.... :-))

You know your a collector when you build a new house and the detached garage and the house garage is more square footage then the living space.
You know your a collector when both garages are full before the house gets done.
You know your a collector when you build a house with two garages because your semi trailer is so full you have to climb in and over stuff, and can't get stuff out thats way in front.

You know your a collector when you drag a trailler full of stuff to Portland
3 or 4 times to Swap meets and don't sell it before you finally take it to the scarp man.

just a few that pertain to me anyway, but its all fun.

.....you are on your honeymoon, and you stop to visit a farmer that is WAY off the beaten track that has some old trucks and tractors that he said he would show you if'n you ever came by to visit.

This actually happened to me last year. Neither of us thought is was so funny until we came home and told some friends about it while recounting our trip. Later that year, I sat in on a meeting with a bunch of old-timers that were part of a local implement association, and they all guffawed loudly when I told them the story about visiting the fellow with the tractor and trucks while on our trip.

you might be an engine collector if you cant get your wife or kids to hold this wire while I roll these flywheels around anymore.

You might be an engine collector if your wife has the junk ones all painted up pretty and placed in the flower garden.

You might be a hardcore motorman if TSA has to wand your hands three times before they finally let you on the plane .

..... if your community passed an ordinance in your honor .

......if you give your children names like Nic , Clessie ,and Otto

....If you plan on using your largest crankcase as an emergency hurricane shelter .

....if you have engine tattoos and jewelry .

....if you can open any given issue of GEM and say "I know that cat , I helped him start that thing one time . (Steve's Simplex only counts for one ! Its there every month )

....If you ever gave a whole engine to someone else's kid

....If you figured out how to blend a lot of brass gauges and a large operable engine into your home decor . AND SHE LIKES IT !!

life is good

You might be an engine collector if people who know you drop off "junk" engines because they know you like to tinker with 'em.

Uhhh huh...happens to me.

might be a engine nut if part of the neighbor hood starts to take notice what you do and starts bringing you mowers to fix

you might be a engine nut if you spend your days in the garage more then anywere else, and at the shows, I USE TO FISH YOU KNOW!

might be a engine nut if your fishing and you hope to get snagged on an old rusty engine, or you hope to find one in the woods while your just wondering around waiting for the big fish to get suckered into....i mean.......bite the hook

might be a engine nut if your just dog tired when you come in at 12:00 at night from restoring and tinkering, (gets in yer blud dont it) / second nature

might be a engine nut if you have baught some extra engine parts that you find later that you dont need, then you think on selling the extra but deside to hang on to the parts for years to come.

might be a engine nut if the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning is what to do next on your project. happens all the time for me.

and you just might be a a engine nut if your bed room is plastered all over the place full of engine pictures and 2 old iron calanders and a pile of new and used parts in the corner in boxes and an engine by your bed, and yes, i have banged my toe on it to in the night time.

wait......im getting into the (definitly a engine nut) category now

definitly a engine nut if your shelves are partially full of repair books

and you just might be a engine nut if..........well.......i havn't done it yet.....but stick some engine decals on the doors of the garage......yes i've thought about it but mom wouldn't be to crazy about it. LOL

im tired. lol it is bed time for me.....i think

I forgot to put this in my previous post
You may be an engine collector if the wife is out weeding the garden and you are in the shop tinkering with your latest engine and she yells in that you should put the switch in the run position instead of the start posiition

You might be an engine collector if, after stopping at a small town coffee shop for lunch, somebody just trying to be helpful, gives you directions to the dump. This actually happened to us. We laughed all the way home!
