while applaud the idea of trying to put another motor in the tractor but..

for the time that you will spend to put another motor in you can come up with another kohler motor for it

looking at the pictures you wont be able to get the motor to sit down low enough to get everything to line up correctly with out cutting the frame

If you can't find anything wrong with the Kohler, I wouldn't worry about it, especially considering your skill level and knowledge. Where is the 4-53T in the background going to end up?

also try to start the motor out of the tractor
just a hot wire to the coil and have the fuel system hooked up

I have a couple of hydros one thing to check is the front pto pulley the other is the coupler on th back of the motor and th pin on the driveshaft
