Default Re: Briggs, rant

I maintain equipment for a local organization that promotes, installs and co-ordinates community gardens (www.gatewaygreening.org ). We have half a dozen Mantis tillers with small 2-stroke engines. They also say to mix 50:1, but I keep all of the 2-stroke gas cans mixed at 32:1 or slightly richer. Yes, they may smoke a little and I have to keep an eye on the spark plugs, but so far, have never had catastrophic engine failure with them.
Oil & plugs are cheap compared to replacing engines.
