Here is a picture of the crank that is in question:

Anyway, I bought a N.O.S. crank and connecting rod for a WI. Since the WI crank does not have a bearing, I'll just cross the number on the current one, buy a new one, and have it pressed on by a machine shop. It's a long shot for true compatibility, but the crank was cheap (money wise) so I figured I'd give it a try.

Briggs still sells the bearing, it is #99158. It is not exactly like the old one though. The original bearing had a shield on one side and the new ones do not. I am not sure if that would be a problem.

i never would have thought of that. but thankfully my old 41 WI runs perfect and i have put a few hours of runtime on it with no issues and no smoke! so it has a good working pump allright

Does anyone have the part number for the breather?

EDIT: Make that the part number for the cast starter cup and the breather...

EDIT #2: SBreeden: could you post the type number for your engine?

So I had the crank turned down 0.010" to .740" to remove the scoring and then had a friend chop off 0.010" of the connecting rod end cap and its counterpart and then reem it out to match the crankshaft. It works as a temporary fix, but I'd still like to get a good crank for the engine. Does anyone know if a crank from a model I would work? Both my WIBP and an I have the same bore and stroke plus each use ball bearings... so would they be the same? Or am I overlooking something?
