I dont know of anything else FM except Fairbanks Morse, but Ive never seen a cap like this. Heavy solid brass.

what diameter is it? also looks like it has had a pipewrench on it? I have seen caps like this used on underground storage tanks such as fuel oil, all of them were brass. most of them had a recess though for a tool to go down into the top for removal.
