I picked up a couple (1/4" & ½”) “new”, adjustable pressure relief valves just to test them out. The ¼” one was just OK, but the ½” one had a ½” F-NPT outlet which I liked better for what I have planned for the ACAC engine set up. I set it at the lowest relief pressure of 50 psig +/-, and proceeded to start the engine. The ACAC engine fired, and ran on the first turn of the flywheels pumping up to 55 psig in short order . With the relief valve hissing from time to time, and the ACAC engine running at around 300 rpm, it held that pressure with ease . Boy am I ever having fun , even in NJ on the way through.

The other day while at the “FLEA” (like every week). One gets to know the vendors, and we chit chat a bit on various things. Some know I like old mechanical things and of course the discussions usually lead to my favorite item Hit & Miss engines, some B & S engines , old farm equipment, etc.. While we were discussing the “world and NJ” affairs, again, he said he finally got to those pressure gauges we were talking about. You have the choice of the three, Cleaver & Brooks big steam gauges (300 psig), he pulled out of a box with the glass broken on one. I asked how much and he said. One for X'$s, the second one would be 2X-$'s. and the third one is ½ X $’s since he broke the glass. I bought the first one, then the second one (discounted) and what the heck, the third one too, spending a whopping $60 for all three. One disappeared on the way home at my sons place to hang on the wall where the air line is . They are a bit "BIG" for what I want, but never seeing them that big, I just had to buy them on the way through, even in NJ while trying to have fun .

Now that I got the air tank connections done, I need the compressed air doing something. I know I can blow up balloons and bicycle tires with it, blow bubbles in a soapy solution, run model steam engines, and some other things that require air pressure. BUT, I want something a bit different . At the “FLEA” market a few weeks ago I found it(THANKS to Rich Sr.). After designing a support and makeshift air manifold from ¼” pipe fittings, and “waiting” (did I ever say I hate waiting for things to show up) for a reasonably priced valve I didn’t have(a brass $18 one vs. a $40 PLASTIC one from the manufacturer) I got the pair of “AIR HORNS” connected . I started the ACAC engine (easily), ran the air pressure up to 60 + psig, pulled the air valve lanyard, scarred the house cat, and the Wife and Daughter came running to see what the heck I was up to . Here is a short – dark video (sorry) because it’s getting dark to early anymore on my outside patio work shop where I’m trying to have fun, even in NJ on the way through. Guess I need to add some weather proof out door patio workshop lighting. Not another project… .

The cat did come back out from behind the couch, eventually, when he felt it was safe. Got busy (again ) and made up the horn bell supports from big box supplies. A bit of cutting, drilling, filing and fitting I got it made . That is after I got the grass cut (last time ? I hope). Here is a better video of the ACAC driving the horns with its own air. The horns are LOUD, even with the pressure regulator set at 60PSIG, and scared the dog inside while having fun, even in NJ on the way through .

Paul:

I think you get as much fun out of using that horn set to get the attention of the dog and the neighbors as I do with the Algore Edition Green Hoyt-Clagwell which, except for the horns, is useless mostly.

I forgot to include a picture of the makeshift horn support I made from big box store parts to help steady the L O N G air horns. All is good as another, non identified engine, may surface soon . I’m not really looking hard, but I keep shaking the bushes when I can while having “FUN”, even in NJ, and especially at the Coolspring fall show (it’s been awhile) next month on the 19-20-21 , on the way through

ps: It looks like I have room for something else on the horn support . Nothing like planning ahead....

When one is just about done , something else showes up in the mail. It’s an early IHC starting crank # GA 6515 as shown in the 45HP Titan book- I have, that goes with the 1913 3/4 HP ACAC engine. It's really a different starting crank design than the # G 6515 for the IHC 1HP engines. Now, all I need is the screen cooler box that houses the ACAC engine, and the Titan tractor it starts, and, and .... a lot more room and a lot more $'s .

As I said before, I’m not really looking hard for anything, but I keep shaking the bushes when I can, while having “FUN”, even in NJ on the way through, and even in Coolspring, Pa (it’s been awhile) this month at the fall show on the 19-20-21. What should I bring in the pick up to "show", or maybe “sell”, or leave empty to "pick up something" .

I’ve been slacking , way off on the ACAC engine (to many other projects ). In the meantime, I found some clear plastic tube. You say, what for . Well, I say, utilizing the free, pressure relief air, from the pressure relief valve, can be used for showing a visual operation, of the pressure relief valve, with a ball going up and down in the tube as the pressure relief valve cycles . I still have more to do before its operational. Just having fun with my IHC ACAC engine, even in NJ on the way through.

I've known about this other ACAC engine for awhile and have had conversations with the folks about it. Then all of a sudden this video shows up on another site of there semi restored (without the compressor part) ACAC engine looking and running as beautiful as can be . I wonder how many others are out there in engine land in any condition .
