Default Maytag 92

First time owner of a Maytag 92 and also new to the Stak. This is a long frame deep gas tank Ser. # 262xxx, and stamped 28 on the mag plate. Solder tab points and rectangle condenser.

My post is mostly concerning Spark, for now. Spark plug sparks with +6V DC applied to solder tab and scratch Neg. to any metal part. Ohms read ~8.8K between Primary and secondary on the 20K scale. Points gapped @.020".

While spinning flywheel with drill Mtr. I can only faintly see spark with plug wire practically touching metal. I can hold onto plug wire and only get faint sensation.

Until I can get a "recommended" .22Mfd 630V Cap or send for a recharged magnet I'm at a loss. Those seem to be my only variables. I don't have a known good magnet to compare strength. Anyone recharge magnets in Oregon ?

I would try giving the points a good cleaning. Sometimes it's that simple. Make sure that all electrical connections are clean and tight. Shopdogsam has some good videos for working on Maytags. Look him up on youtube.

Thank you Tom G. I did that first thing. They are now smooth and clean. I also cleaned the secondary wire socket. My points are the Soldered tab type so connections are solid.

Update. Using my wife's Facebook I got a response from a person in Portland that has a recharger and a way to test coil and condenser. I'm traveling there this morning. Will update findings.
