The scope probe is grounded to the plug body.

Be VERY careful about the coupling. As I said, my H.V. scope pictures were not good enough to use with that setup. If you get coupled too closely, a spark is likely to jump across to the scope probe........Then it's bye-bye 'scope input!

I've got an idea for an extremely simple condenser checker that uses 120 volts AC, a resistor and a digital voltmeter to test condensers for capacity and leakage. I'll try to get it on the bench in the next couple of days and see if it works. If it does, I'll share it with y'all.
