Default Sattley, Field Brundage what can you tell me?

Looking for any info that I can get on these two engines that I picked up at an auction last week. the governor intrigued me so I bought two engines There is no tag that I can find, does not look like there ever was tag and I have not been able to locate a serial number. Should these engines have a tag? I have assumed that they both are 1-1/2 hp. engines. Bore is 3-1/2" flywheels are 19" diameter. How does the governor work, do you just slide the collar in and out. One engine is stuck and the other is loose but the collar is stuck on both engines. you do not come across these engines up here in my neck of the woods so any info is appreciated!

Will,
Try this site: https://sites.google.com/site/packrat56/pnfbahome

The 1 1/2 hp was available throttle governed or hit & miss like yours. The collar gives three speeds.

My dad comes from near Batoche. If you ever get down to Saskatoon, check out the pioneer museum. They have all of the machinery there with which they opened the prairies with. I got lots of stories first hand from him and my uncles.
Cheers!

Martin I have been to the Western Development Museum in Saskatoon quite a few times now. I did not go to their Pion-Era show this summer, as it was raining on the Saturday. I would like to tour their back room/storage area as I think they have a lot of gems not on display. The WDM in North Battleford and Yorkton also have some nice pieces. Never have made it to the WDM in Moose Jaw, my travels never seem to take me there?

I can tell you to be careful with the sliding collar, most I have seen are chipped or missing. The one I have the collar comes off of the crank shaft pretty easy and could hit the ground an become many small chunks of collar. Nice engine!

Did you ever get either of the field brundage engines running?
I just recently acquired one myself and am just getting started in this hobby.

The only thing I have done was go through the Mag bracket and tried it on another Field & Brundage engine I have. I need to finish up some engine projects before starting another one! I have too many projects not enough time which is not a bad thing.

Hi Will, have you checked the number on the Webster bracket for this engine? That number would be an indication as to if the engine was built by Field-Brundage or not.
