Question 1947 Moline RTU compression test

How much cylinder pressure should i have on a healthy engine? all four cylinders on my tractor are low 90s. the reading does not increase with oil added to the cylinders. I pull stock class and am running out of power and stalls at end of pull. I am trying to decide if I should try making stock engine run better, or if needs overhauled, find a 206 to put in and go from there. Thanks for any ideas.

don't know what the spec on compression is but 90 lbs sounds good to me, old tractors had low compression engines for long life at rated rpm, auto motors would blow up in no time at max rpms.......ps if you mod or change-no more stock class, witch is cool too....or put a super kit in it....

Long as compression close to equal on all 4. R in new condition might hit 120.

What is a Super Kit?

I don't want to put a bunch of money into the stock motor since it seems to be easy swap to a za 206, moving the flywheel and pressure plate from the r to the z motor. doubt a perfect running r engine will ever make the power a z can.....

most tractor rebuilds offer a super kit, 10 thousands over on pistons or higher compression, not much more money than a standard rebuild kit, just check the internet to see who offers it for the Minnie mo,s…...

Good luck finding someone to bore blocks as blind hole. Oversize pistons will be tough to find as they are not flat on on top. You won't gain anything.
