Default Flermoen Threshing Reunion 2012

This afternoon I went 2 miles north of Winger, Minnesota, and attended a threshing show. Here's what was published in a newspaper last week:

Threshing Reunion Saturday, September 22, 2012: Flermoen Farm North of Winger

Winger Lions Club will hold their 6th Annual Threshing Reunion at Flermoen’s Oak Grove Farm on Saturday, September 22, starting at 2 P.M. It’s easy enough to find. Just go north of Winger or south of Erskine on Highway 59 until you see a bunch of cars on the west side.

Arvid Ous, McIntosh native, now of Gilford, Montana is bringing his 1926 Oil Pull Rumely 25-45 h.p., Serial # R139, which is the first one built in 1926. The Rumely Oil Pull will be belted to a Wood Brothers Threshing Machine. This will be the oldest tractor ever featured at this show and will really help bring back the days of neighborhood threshing!

The Lions will serve a Thresherman’s Lunch, with free will offering being accepted. All proceeds from the lunch and sale of the wheat go to local projects and needs.

A couple special features will include a play day, with old time games for the children. Bring the kids, so they can learn how we made fun when we didn’t have anything to play with but brothers and sisters, and imagination.

A new feature, which will take us not quite so far back in time, will be the Highway 2 Cruisers display of classic cars. Cars from different decades will be displayed, but most will be from the era of wrap around windshields, eyebrow headlights, fender skirts, glass packs, chrome, and two tone paint jobs.

Come on out! Enjoy the show and the company where everybody’s a neighbor and nobody’s a stranger – at least not for long.
