Don, I've noticed various numbers on the Underwriters' tag. Can you explain the significance of these numbers?

I wonder if the 5hp vertical Ruger engine referenced onto the Jacobson Machine Mfg. "Proposal" is still around.

I will send serial numbers of 16 of my engines and pictures of some of them to the registry email later.
I am just trying to get used to using the site and sending stuff. Don ---------- Post added at 10:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:35 AM ---------- I have not heard of the "Ruger". I assume that it would be the same as the Wards "Invicible" which there are a couple 2 HP left. Don ---------- Post added at 10:45 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:39 AM ---------- As with the engine tag the Underwriters tags were sequential. Only the engines with the Underwriters gas tank got the tag. If the engine has only the Underwriters tag I could possibly date the engine if enough Underwriters numbers could be found. Don |
