Default High Definition Internet (high speed) Gas Engine Video

This is the 400 HP Snow as seen running at the Florida Flywheelers Swap Meet on Friday, January 16, 2009. It was built by the F.S.Snow Engine Company of Buffalo, NY in 1914. It is a double acting in-line 2 cylinder 4 stroke engine with a 20 inch bore and 36 inch stroke. That is over 45,000 cubic inches displacement and it runs at 120 r.p.m. The flywheel is 12 feet in diameter, weighing 12 tons. This engine was used to pump natural gas from wells to suppliers.

After installing new custom profiles into my Windows Movie Maker, this is a high definition version of the "Snow End-to-end" video previously uploaded. Look for the "Watch in HD" to appear at the lower right corner of the video.

IF you have a HIGH SPEED internet connection, try this high definition direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myu2Dmv1mOQ&fmt=18 You might want to hit the stop button, let the download catch up a bit and then hit the play button.

Here is a much shorter AVI clip that might be easier to download: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wZjhx9E3nI

Low definition direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=myu2Dmv1mOQ

That is a really great video. I have a vhs tape that has some of these engines in their natural state in a compressing station in West Virginia. Those engines were just fascinating to watch.

Nice video. Are those drip oilers on the upper valve assembly?

Actually, the 400 HP Snow has only two cylinders with a cumbustion chamber at each end of each cylinder.

Hmmmm. I didn't think of it that way. Thanks.

It takes one of those in-line cylinder engine owners to know.

As a bit of housekeeping, here are the photos from outside the building.

And a thread with more photos from the swap meet:
