Default Brass Unknown Carburetor, Curved Flange

Here`s an unusual brass carb I just found, there`s no name on it but it does have the number 44918 stamped on the mounting flange. the most interesting part of it is the curved mounting flange, would this be for a vertical engine, where this would bolt to the side of the round head? That`s all I can think of for an application, does anyone have any info on this thing? The mounting holes are 2 1/8" between centers, and the bore is 1".
