Default Avery single cylinder

Was the single cylinder Avery steam engine an Avery design or did they buy out another manufacturer? Was it cheaper to build then their undermount engines? How many years were they available? Thanks

What I've read on this is that back in the 1890's Avery sold Huber engines. I've seen some cuts of them, and they definitely LOOK like Huber engines. So, when Avery first came out with their own return-flue engine around 1900, it makes sense that they would closely resemble a Huber. I think their straight-flue engines were their own design. I got the pleasure of being around a straight flue, "top mounted" 20 HP Avery last year at Craig Dobbin's plow day. The engine is owned by Gary Flack, and man, it was a NICE engine!
