Tomorrow came (TODAY ), and went with little done . Off doing other things like the dentist, local mower shop, steel shop, John Deere dealer, pick up welded bolster, take the wife out to lunch, fix the mower and cut the grass, look for wheels for a friend, go to the flea market, etc, etc.... Here are a few more photos, welded bolster parts, steel and bolts, fuel tank installed, fuel pump & hoses, and the overflow pipe . I want to plum the cooling system next, but who knows what tomorrow will bring. Still, having fun, even in NJ .

Connected up the cooling lines to the tank, put water in it, and yes the old piping "LEAKS", and the pump doesn't pump . What doesn't leak is full of rust. I got 1#+ of rust out of the lines/fittings. No wonder it won't pump . I crushed one pipe getting it off , twisted another one off at the fitting and the union is bad, and now no more smilies...., and all of the 94 year old pipes are off and cleaned out. Flushed & back flushed the cylinder. Going out in the morning for the appropriate black pipe needed for the fix. Hopefully all the old fittings will be OK. Just didn't get a chance to clean them up and see... All in a day's fun, even in NJ.

$16.29 later, and after Thanksgiving lunch with one of the grandaughters at school with the Mom and Dad(somehow I paid again ), most of the piping has been put back. Somehow I missed a 4" piece I needed. So back tomorrow for that after the flea market, pizza for breakfast, JD dealer for the right mower belt, over to the grandaughters to repair some furniture , blow some leaves around, etc, etc... I might get a chance to finish it before it gets dark . OH WELL another long day, keeping busy, and just having fun, even in NJ...

KK showed up just driving around as I was blowing leaves in the wind. We traded off some stuff and he was on his way, and I finished blowing leaves in the wind. After doing all that stuff yesterday and picking up the 4" pipe I needed, I worked on the Titan a bit today. The piping doesn't really line up right. Seems I'm off another 1/2" on one of the pipes. Dug around in the 1" pipe bin and found what I needed on a pipe "tree" and took it apart. Now when I tighten things down the pump plunger and pump eccentric is off about 1/16". It got dark again , so tomorrow I'll loosen the pump bracket, pump, the union and tighten things up the other way. Set the eccentric and the pump plunger so it's loose, tighten the pump on the bracket and then tighten the pump bracket, or do it another way . I'll get it in time (what's the hurry, I'm retired) so the pump eccentric is in alighnment and not binding. Yes, I'm still having fun, at least for awhile, even in NJ .

Well, I worked on it a bit today, and here is a video(taken with my "rose" colored camera) of it running in my back yard around 100rpm +/- . The water pump doesn't seem to want to pump across the screen but sure will put a stream of water out the air relief petcock. Seems like it's missing a check valve or something . I'll get it , one of these days, and got that YouTube thingy down......... Almost forgot, I'm having fun, even in NJ on the way through....

Hi Bill: Yes the video was taken with the "rose" colored camera on low resolution(sorry folks, but....). I still "had" problems lining up the hard lines to water pump, the union and getting the eccentric loose all at the same time. I took out the union... rubber hose replaced it , problem solved . I pulled the pump innards apart, made some "technical" changes after I looked at the parts layout in the IHC repair parts manual #9, and studied how it all works. It should pump, still . More to come as progress is being made daily.

I put the pump all back together, sealed the parts that should be (seats in the casting), the valves do there thing, and it should work . Then I pulled the mixer off to do some repairs to the old fix (globs of braze) where the mixer had gotten broken sometime in its life. When it was brazed, the parts were not quite lined up and the machined parts (flats) were not “flat” and didn’t seal on the mixer parts, and to the head, and a couple of screw holes didn't line up. I got the file out “not”, thought about the mill (don’t want to do the set up), and then “DUH” why not just use the belt sander to flatten the surfaces like I've done on other things. Here are two photos of the surfaces now . It took all of 2-3 minutes on the belt sander taking off just enough to make them "flat". Then I took some epoxy and filled in any cracks that I could find. Now to make some gaskets, put it back together and work on the intake a bit.

Well, I got the gaskets made, the mixer back together and on the engine, and everything re-connected . Added gas, water and spun the flywheels. Check out what happened next in the photo . Yes, I’m a happy camper, even in NJ on the way through .

I'm going to replace the temporary plastic fuel line from the pump to the mixer while waiting on the fuel tank. I rummaged around in the fitting and 1/4" pipe box and found a couple of nice old brass 1/4" pipe unions, elbows and nipples. Look what else I found in the Famous/Titan parts box, a set of battery box supports. Now to get longer pieces of 1/4" pipe and the battery box, I could do some more work on the Titan while having fun, in NJ . Still more to do .

Well, Happy Thanksgiving to all, and be thankful for family, friends, health, etc....

Anyway, Mr. Brown(UPS) showed up at 6:30 last night(sure was dark ) with some 1/4" pipe. Just got a chance between the flea market and thanksgiving dinner to pipe up (1/4") the fuel pump to the mixer. I had to use the pipe cutter, file and threader to make up a custom 33 1/2" piece a 4" piece and the union. Tightned it all up, and didn't see any leaks. Here are the photos. Off I go to Thanksgiving dinner to get "STUFFED", even in NJ on the way through .

Grandkids just about wore me out through Thanksgiving and this week end just playing and making wood things in the shop from scraps while having fun, in NJ . Worked on the bolster a bit after they left and have the ¼” x 5” plate cut to length, punched a ¾” pivot hole in the middle, and 6 - 3/8” holes for mounting it on the trucks. Here are a couple of photos, punching holes, with the fifth wheel fork in place, and the axel stiffener’s mounted. Need a 7/8” pin for the fork which I’ll get or make up. More to come from time to time as work progresses on the 94 year old engine .

Things in NJ are OK for the end of November . Today I went out in the rain looking for the ¾” and 7/8” bolts I needed and after several stops at places that should have them, I came up with the ¾” one at one place and the closest thing to the 7/8” at Fazio’s steel (a 1” bolt) . The ¾” was OK, but I had to do some lathe set up, turning, drilling and sawing to get the 7/8” pin I needed from the 1” bolt for the 5th wheel fork. Here are a couple of photos working in the shop, just having fun, in NJ before it got dark . Maybe tomorrow I’ll put the bolster on, if I get a chance. I can hardly wait for Tractor Supply to open up down the road…

I made “Green Pea “& ham soup today. Sure is good . After that I went to work on mounting the bolster under the Titan. Had a few minor problems, but had enough “stuff” around to keep the problems minor . Got it mounted and centered on the axel, and the axel brace “almost” fit, so I took it off, punched another hole in it, and all is OK. Attached is a photo of what it was like, and what it is like now. Just needs some "rusty" paint to make it look right. I guess one of these days I'll start on the seat and battery box based on patterns I got from Rob and what I have on other engines. Sure am having "FUN"... even in NJ .

"the axel brace “almost” fit ", and I needed a big 3" heavy 1/2" washer to hold it in place. You guessed it right, who in there right mind would have one of these for me on the shelf. Soooo I dug around in the rusty junk pile outside and found just what I needed, a 1/4" x 3" piece of round with a shaft colar on it. I drilled out the 1/4" hole to 1/2" (making sure it won't move on the drill press with chips a flying, and found I need to sharpen the drill), cut off the shaft and there it is, all done. That is, this part . I need to bend the axel brace a bit to square it up, but the heat wrench was borrowed for a job at my son's place and hasn't been seen my back yard for months . Guess I'll have to go confiscate it , before Christmas.

I called my son this morning and he said the torches are in the shop. One of his friends isn’t going to be happy that I picked them up because HE wanted to use them tonight . I checked them over before loading them in the truck to be sure they were OK, and that I still had enough gas for the job I’ve been putting off because the torched weren’t in my back yard . They are now… I pulled off the front axle stabilizer from the bolster (front to rear) and the jury rigged mounting under the engine frame. It seems that the front axle was positioned exactly 4 ¾” too far forward for the stabilizer to be mounted correctly and that is why the extension was put on. After moving the front axle mounting back 4 ¾” in the frame, I removed the jury rig extension from the stabilizer, got the heat wrench fired up and bent both ends of the stabilizer bar just enough the right ways so that it fit correctly. I bolted everything back up in place. A perfect fit . Photos? OOPs
