Default Kohler 18 HP

We are working on a Kohler Magnum 18 HP engine in a JD garden tractor. We have put in a new ignition module, disconnected all switches and wiring. Our understanding to get a spark nothing needs to be hooked up except the starter, and it should develop a spark. The gap is set a 14 as required by the manual the magnets on the flywheel are in good condition. Seems like it should spark but doesn't, any suggestions to help us out?

Did you have a spark plug on both coil wires when you checked for spark? Some dual lead coils need a plug on both wires to make a spark.

We did most of the time, but we did have the second off at the last. Will make sure we have both connected from now on.
thanks for the heads up.

you are right both plugs fire together and should with the switch wires off coil. if you put a plug on each wire and lay them on eng. and there is no spark bad unit
