Andrew, Dan was pretty easy on us. I like to look on ebay for stuff like this too but I missed this one. Anyway we were really tickled to get ahold of this card. Thanks.

Glad I could in some way be a small part of it. Dan easy on you? Are we talking about the same Ehlerding? Just joking. Dan's always been good to me and has always helped me out. Now if I could just talk him out of some of his tractor bridge wreck post cards .

Just thought I would bump this up again to see if anybody has come up with any ideas on this tractor. Thanks.

It's been about a year since I bumped this up. Just thought I'd refresh it in case anybody has come across anything.

Just looking at the pictures. I wonder if there's any connection with Walter j. McVicker of McVicker Engineering Co.. The tractors in the pics where built by someone substantial but very lightly and cheaply by the looks of the light framework. He was advertising that they would build anything for anyone to their design. Maybe an ex pioneer employee wanted to try their hand at building something big and got him to do it, sure looks like it was built with the same mindset that those guys had.

As long as this thread has been bumped up, I was thinking if you ever find the other 10' drive wheel and the other front wheel, we have a 100hp Charter gas engine...we could build one heck of a big single cylinder hit and miss tractor. Just thinking out loud.

---------- Post added at 11:52 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:48 AM ----------

The Charter has 2 7' flywheels so it would need big drive wheels.

We haven't turned up anything more on this tractor. The best clue we have is the original postcard we obtained where Hartsough is mentioned. Whether or not this is the same man that developed the Big 4 is not known but seems possible. However, even with this possible connection we haven't found any mention or record of this tractor listed anywhere at this time.

Brian, found the spark plugs yet? Make two more wheels, take it to Wendell Kelch. Just having fun. I hope someone can I.D. the tractor eventually.

I was just reading post #66 by Jerry Towes about the giant Maytag tractor. That sure would have a been a site to see that tractor.

Wayne, you do realize that they were having a bit of poetic license there just to see if we were on our toes.
