Default 10 20 Deering

hey yall been playing around with my old 10-20 and man does the rear end sound loud and noisy!!I have plenty of fluid in it and ive had it taken all apart at one time or the other.so my question is----does every ones elses make a whinning noise in the rear end when driving???????????I have a f-20 that makes a little noise but not like the old 10-20?????thanks.edgar in west tn

yeah, the gears get worn they can be noisy. Also they are a lot louder with water for lubrication and not heavy oil. Have you pulled the drain plug and let the water out? Water is heavier than oil and will be on the bottom.

hey thanks for your response.i have had the complete tractor taken apart at one time and went thru everthing that looked like needing replaced or fixed.it has fresh oil in it and it reminds me the way my F-20 sounds only louder?????I will never wear it out farming with it !!!!!!!!!!just for playing around on.i was told this am that fordsons were the worst about rear end noise???????

My old fordson N used to howl but I loved that noise my MH 55 and 44 are quite loud also but they had a very hard life

That's or sure, mine makes you want to wear ear protection. McCormicks seem to be pretty famous for gear noise, but most often because of wear from longevity of service.
