Briggs 6BS was an early alumonum block engine made in the 50s. I had one on a reel mower from 1956. They were plain bearings and I think they also had an alumonum bore. You cand find the year by looking on the back rim of the flywheel, it will be a little number in a circle.
Heres a picture of it on the mower...

Does anyone have a source for new or used parts for a 6BS? I need a fuel tank and a carb kit. Thanks

I have a couple of 5s/6s gas tanks that might work. Also I do not beleive there a carb kit, but you should be able parts needed individually.
