Default 'Nother Fordson

I'm definitely a 2 cylinder guy, but when this little F surfaced, and the price was right, it ended up"following me home". It looks to be an '18, and is fairly intact and in reasonably good shape. It's been squirle'ed away in a barn for the better part of 20 years. Even better, it's loose, has reasonable compression and seems to be original aside from an aftermarket governor.

Very nice Fordson! Those back wheels have definitely not been in the field much at all, judging by the looks of the grousers.

I have a late model F Fordson and the wheels are the same way, but the belt pulley is pretty much worn out, so I know it did way more belt work than field work.

Jon,
That is a good looking tractor! I can just imagine how it would look with a vintage mowing machine bolted to it.

Matt and Jon,

First of all that's a great Fordson find!
I just picked up another Fordson a couple weeks ago and its still on my trailer. Unfortunately not as old or complete as the one you got.

When Matt mentioned it would look good with a mower, I immediately thought I'd just seen an ad in W.A.I.T. for a Detroit belly mower for a Fordson and also in BC!

Looked up the ad only to find that it was Jon's ad

Jon it looks like you've got several nice Fordson items.

Jon,
Very nice looking Early Fordson! And it looks to be very complete and original! From the pictures I can see I would guess it is a late 1918 or early 1919. Look for casting dates if the serial number is not visible. Dash, oil pan, front timing cover, underside of top radiator tank, rear axle housings, and inside of rear end housing near the worm gear are good spots to find dates. Those are an excellent set of rear six spoke wheels! Very nice patina! In my opinion I would not paint this one!

All the dates I can find are '18 dates so far. Not to worry boys, I'm not a "paint" guy. It's all about the patina over here at the Nessel's!

Hi Jon,
Nice find on the ladderside fordson. Hope to see it in person some day!, there is remains of an early one at Fort Steel heritage town that looks like it may have been one of the M.O.M. ordered ones as there is no name on the rad?(thought you might want to see it if your ever out this way ).
Nathan.
