Default Fairmont railway type 0D?

Hi all,

New to the forum. I read the sticky at the top, and it said to post topics like this in the "hit and miss" section, but I don't see it!! So if it needs to be moved, I apologize.

I have a fairmont type "0D" railway motor. It says 5hp, 8hp max. Group b, special 1. Serial number 79059. It has a big radiator on top.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an owners manual, parts break down, etc? Also, any idea what year? I did some searching and couldn't find anything pertaining to a type 0D.

Thanks,
Jeff

Exclamation Re: Fairmont railway type 0D?

Oil-Fuel ratio 16:1, using SAE 40 Non-Detergent oil. DO NOT use modern 2 stroke oil, as it will starve the rod and piston for oil. Mix oil and gas well before putting in tank, if left to sit more than 2 weeks, shake engine/tank well to re-mix fuel and oil. Use high test gas, as it has less alcohol in it,and it will not degrade as fast as regular E-10 crap gas. If engine is to sit more than 30 days, be sure to drain tank, and run engine until it quits, even using choke. The carb is made of poor quality aluminum and brass parts, which will eat each other up if exposed to phase seperated gas.
