Default 75 Years of Memories for National Threshers Association June 27-30, 2019

NTA will be hosting its 75th Annual Reunion next year, June 27-30, 2019. It will be a packed event and we are looking for folks that have pictures and stories to share. A nice book was done for the 50th and we want the 75th to be even better.

With the advent of the internet and ebay, lots of new picture have surfaced. We were fortunate to be able to purchase several of Blaker's original glass negatives and picture boards. Might you have some that could used? The show started at Blaker's farm in Alvordton and moved to Montpelier, OH and has resided at the Fulton County Fairgrounds, Wauseon, OH since the mid-sixties.

Port Huron is the featured engine. I've said it before, but it would be fun to have this model in attendance also.

Thanks
Beth
Owned by Port Huron #7948 which Blaker purchased March 11, 1920 and purchased by my Dad October 25, 1975

Just checking to see if any original photos from Blaker's farm or Montpelier are available. We are looking for some of the old Steam O Grams and programs also.

Thanks!

Beth

Hi, If you are in need of Steam-O-Grams, I have 1955 & 1957. Also a 1954 flyer. Let me know if these are helpful. Thanks Walt M

Hi Walt!

I would really like to see the flyer.

According to the list I was sent, we still need the following Steam O Grams:
1959
1961
1995
1998
2002
2010
2012
2018

We are also looking for any of the programs from the early years- 1948 thru 1967. I am not sure when they started producing programs as my collection starts in 1968. The missing programs are:
1973
1993
1994
1995
1997
2004
2007

The committee is also looking for an original photo of the Port Huron wheel in front of Blaker's home.

I'm still digging through my collection (I'm sure I have more of the recent SOG's.) I have been so fortunate to have been sent a tremendous amount of information over the years.

Thank you to all who can assist in this task. 75 years of memories and events can be mind boggling.

Beth

Thank you! I don't believe I have ever seen that one of the model Port Huron. I would love to know how/where they poured those drive wheels. It would also be very interesting to know if the patterns still exist.

The 1959 program. (sorry for the multiple posts, but this makes it easier to keep them separated)

And the 1962 program. Beth, if you want an original of the 1962 program, dad has 2 of them.

Wow, clickbait apparently is nothing new judging by the cover of the '61 Steam-O-Gram, photo of HFM collection then in fine print "we will have antique cars, but none of these or as many"😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Dad wants to know if anyone else has one of these mugs from 1959? He says there's an interesting story about them.
A friend of Dad's uncle from Darlington, PA was selling these behind the grandstand when Lucille Blaker showed up and told him to quit selling. Dad doesn't remember there being an official flea market, but there was a "trading post". Not sure how many were ever sold, but the guy had cases of the mugs in the back of his 40's Studebaker truck. Dad doesn't recall if he or his uncle actually bought the mug, or if the fella gave them away.

I definitely want to thank you for posting this one, Brad. The TNT picture on the bottom right of page 2 has my mom on my grandfather's 21-75 Baker, which is the same Baker that we have be bringing to Wauseon recently.

Sorry, everyone. I am new to this posting stuff. I'm referring to the '61 Steam-O-Gram.

Brad,

Thank you for your posts! I'm amazed that they sent out 5000 SOG's!

I did not realize the value of the programs until I went searching for engines and when they came and went.

Does anyone have an original of Leroy Blaker standing next to the smokebox of "my" engine-- #7948 that was his workhorse in the sawmill? All we can find are copies of copies.

I spent 4 hours today going through pictures and taking a walk down memory lane. The 75th Anniversary Book should be impressive. I also learned that they may be copying the original movies that Blaker made--shows my engine in action back then.

We are still looking for more photos from Blakers & Montpelier.

Thank you!

Beth

Beth, is this the photo you're talking about? If so, I have the original, but it is a 35mm slide. This photo was taken by my great uncle Harry Fleming. I can send you a copy of the higher resolution scan, but I'm not sure the image quality will be much better. I'd have to look at the original slide (in Dad's collection) to see if the "snow" lines are on the slide or resulted from scanning.
