Default 1928 Briggs FH Painted Blue

Today while cleaning the base for our 1928 Briggs FH I found blue paint under the base and behind the backing plate. Was wondering if anyone has seen this color on any FH's?

I would think that blue paint was applied by some owner in an earlier restoration at some point. I doubt any manufacturer would go through the effort to paint the bottom side of the base.
