Great video! Most of us on the west coast never get to see one of these in action.......too bad the lighting wasn't a bit better.

It's been about 3 years, but the last I knew there were a couple of these rigs still in operation up near Kevin, MT (90 miles North of Great Falls.)

Enjoy the videos,I didn't know that type of operation still existed.I took pictures of a Superior at The Cook County Tractor and Engine Show in 1993 at Lindsey Texas. The fellow displaying it said it was a 40hp and had been used like the one in the video near Nacona, Texas.I believe he said it was a two cycle engine.

Fred, Thanks for the movie. really fun to watch and listen to the sounds. Question: what was the thingy at the end lifting up and down with the j-hook? some kind of accumulator. It appeared to jump when the engine sucked in a charge. Thanks again, Jim

Jim, I beleive that was the gasometer for the engine.

Jim, Eric is right in calling it a gasmeter. I don't know exactly how it works but it might regulate the natural gas from the oil well to the engine. Maybe someone out there knows how it works.
You know I hate to admit it but when I'm around these running powers , with all the sounds and moving parts to watch I kind miss some things. The owner of them was at the second power and I would have liked to asked how it works, but I don't know where I was at. Good thing I got some of it on tape cause I still see things I missed.

Eric and Fred, Thanks for the info. I couldnot see the gasometer inthe video with the engine. Fred, you dont have to explain the feeling you get next to one of these engines running. I would still be there staring with drool running down my chin. Thanks alot for sharing the video. Jim.
