Default Temporary gas tank

I recently purchased a 5 hp Economy engine that doesn't have a gas tank.Id like to test start this engine by using a temp gas tank that will be located higher than the carb. Will this work or will gas flood into the carb. I won't have an inline check valve.
Thank you, Tom Lee

These do not have a conventional carburetor. There is no float needle valve to shut off the flow of gas, so if the tank is above the mixer, it will run out and/or flood the engine. Tank needs to be below the mixer and a check valve in the fuel line is pretty much necessary.

I have done it the way your speaking of, but usually ends up flooding them. I used a Freon jug in the base of my 5hp Economy. No one can see it, so why not?
