Default Nichols & Shepard Company Information

Iíve just registered with the forum. My interest stems from the fact that my great great grandfather, David Shepard, was a founder of the Nichols and Shepard Company in Battle Creek, MI. I am undertaking a project organizing, archiving and curating the Shepard Papers and will be glad of any information SmokStak members may have or know about that would be helpful in pulling together the full history of the Shepard family and N&S.

Do you have any of the early records from the company or are you starting from scratch? We have had N&S engines since the late 1800s in the family and still have 2 engines. I've always wondered what became of the records of the company when it became part of the Oliver Corp.

I'd like to give a friendly "bump" to this thread to bring it to others' attention. I think there's a lot of people out there who would like to find out more info on the N&S company. It's a shame that as successful as they were their records are virtually all gone. I hope some more come out of the woodworks.
