Default Galloway Serial Number Plate

I just obtained the serial number plate for my 1915 2 1/4 hp Galloway and would like to know where on the engine it should be located. So far I have been unable to locate the hole where it used to be mounted.
Thanks

Bob, the serial number plate is located on the base in back of the flywheels. The rivits on mine are 3 7/8 in. from the bottom. Having fun with my Red Wing Bob.

Bob,
Is it an early or late style 2 1/4 Galloway?

John:

I don't know what the difference would be between old and late style but it is a 1915 by serial number.

I guess its fair to say the old style has a round hole in the water hopper and the late style has a rectangular hole.

If there is a serial number chart, I'd like to see it. My late hopper 1 3/4 has a 31xxx serial number.

Dick, Yours would appear to be about 1915. Check out John Cullom's site. In it he has a serial number listing for Galloway's http://oldengine.org/members/jcullom/numbers.PDF

The older style, I believe, has the early tag which is a bit larger and advertises Cream Separators, manure spreaders and farm machinery.
The later style has a plain tag. The early style hopper opening is a bit smaller as well. Ref: GEM July 2002

Also Bob, (don't know if you've done this yet), but if you check on the ends of the crankshaft, the original serial number should be stamped there.
