Default 1880’s-1890’s? Small lathe 3” swing Hopkins

Wanted to share a few pics and maybe get some info on this little lathe I picked up. It’s the smallest lathe I’ve ever seen. It measures total 8” long and has a 3” swing. I found the name on the end side reading Hopkins Watch Tool Co Waltham Mass. I would think it’s from the late 1880s-90s? I would also think it was built for watch making. Anyone here have a similar unit and can share some info much appriciated. In time, I would like to belt it to our 1/4hp Sipp for a working display.

I think these were watchmakers lathes, I have one just like it, only missing tailstock and tooling you have, mine has a nickel or chrome finish, but its just a display piece for me.

They (and/or variations of them) show up occasionally on eBay.

Known as Watchmakers and/or Jeweler's Lathers.

Been Tempted a few times over the years to get one just to play around with it but haven't yet.
