Default Wisconsin AEH on Gibson Tractor

Need some help with my 5.9hp Wisconsin Engine Mod. AEH. This engine is a basket case and I slowly sorting through the box it came in. It has a 3" skirt with 3-1/4 bore. I believe it to be in the early 40's, however the cover plate is missing.
I have several pictures of the tractor (not much sense taking any of a box of parts...???)
I purchased a second Gibson Tractor that was intact and had been running up til the owner stored it several years ago outside, but under cover.
I have acquainted myself with the posted threads on this forum, in particular the oil pump which has a tendency to gum up the lower ball bearing, and will be checking that prior to starting.
Back to the other engine, I need a rebuild set of gaskets, best place for 24x7 tires and points. Not necessarily in that order.
Out of the many listed venders, which one seems to have the parts in stock and has good turn-a-round time.
Please feel free to PM me or post on this site since I check it often. Thanks ahead of time.

Contact Tim Stine at Rock Creek Consulting, (1-814-766-3675) he has every part that you need to rebuild the Wisconsin AEH engine on your Gibson tractor. Id recommend that you buy a Wisconsin AEH operators manual/illustrated parts list, it will answer all of your questions about the engine. You can usually buy them for less than $10 online.

Better recheck your tire size. They should be 24s or maybe 22s if it's early. Do you have the frame numbers? There is a Gibson registry.

Agreed with Doug, you should have 24's. 7x24's will cost ya! Watch around and you can get good deals on 8.3x24. I used simpletire.com, also looked at ntstiresupply.com
I found the engine repair manuals online (pm me if you like). There is lots of info available online if you do some searching.
And, sorry to say but the best and most active Gibson resource is the Gibson Tractor group on facebook. Everything else has pretty much dried up, although the yahoo user group did have lots of info stored there if it still works..

Does anyone have info on the particular wheels on this tractor. They appear solid, unlike others with 4 distinguished slots around the rim.
Also, on this Gibson, the grease fittings are of an earlier design than the zerc fittings on the later models.
On the right rear axle housing is cast "Longmont Colo." and on the left it is cast "Gibson...Seattle Wash

I'm not on Facebook, but the Gibson forum on Yahoo is still active. You might join, as there is a lot of good information to be had there.
Good Luck,

Is that a wheel weight of sorts that is bolted onto the wheel? (can't see the back side) I wonder if those are not original wheels, but are replacements.
Edit: I correct my comments, yes there are a fair number of surviving/registered tractors having 22" wheels. I never noticed but there are pics of other Gibsons with wheels just like yours, which must be the 22" wheel. I wonder if the "4 slots" you refer to are from the 16" wheel (pics of 16/22/24 attached)

Take a look on the opposite side (bottom as installed) of each axle housing. You will find that they (left/right) are the same part, mounted in mirrored positions. Both "Longmont Colo." and "Gibson...Seattle Wash" are on each housing, but you tend to only see one at a time.

I think that is the right rim for the 22s.

Westpete66
the rims on first of three pictures are similar, however they still have a slight opening around the inner side of the rim, where by mine are solid. the wheels in picture 3 (are like the other wheels on my Gibson) with the designated 4 bolt pattern

Took some more photo's. The solid Rims are 22" and single piece and the slotted rims on my other Gibson are 24"
and yes, the p/o had used plastic ties to hold the tire together

found some tires on eb/...Tuckertire (8.3 x 24) good prices

Miller tire has the 22s but they aren't for the faint of heart.
