Default MAYTAG

I have a twin cylinder maytag seriel # 150576x, modle # FW-24. I am having trouble keeping it running, it will run for about ten minutes and then die. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem? Thanks

Did you check the vent for your gas tank? Might be plugged or partially plugged. Engine will run until a vacuum is created in the tank preventing fuel from reaching the carburetor.

That's a 2 cycle engine isn't it? I assume you're mixing oil with the gas. If not, that would do it.

Often times with a twin folks will run them too lean in an effort to cut down on the smoking or will run too little oil to try to accomplish the same thing. This can lead to over heating and the engine will slow and stop. Frequently if this is happening there will be a high pitched squeal as it slows down and the inner workings are stressed. You might want to make sure you have plenty of oil in the mix and that you don't have the air cap opened up too far and running too lean. Good luck Bob Kern

You can also have a faulty coil that is opening up when the engine gets hot.

LYNN sometimes on a 2 cylinder maytags. if the main bearings are worn, the crankcase will draw air around them, and lean out the fuel mixter. also not enough pressure is created in the crankcase, to force the mixter in through the ports hope this is some help to you good luck steve

Hi Lynn,When your Maytag quits will it turn over easy and start again?Does it make a squealing sound before or while it stops? When it quits check to see if it has spark as soon as it stops.Does it struggle to stay running or does it stop abruptly? Is there any fluid leakage at the crankshaft seals.Often it is caused by dirt being picked up in the fuel and clogging the fuel pickup screen? Many times it is caused by a condenser breakdown when hot.Let us know more of the symptoms and maybe we can help.
