Photo HART-PARR workers get a raise

Here is a scan of a interesting letter head. Wow, 20 cent a hour times 10 hours a day 6 days a week nets $12. a week and no taxes. Notice "Night Force". Must be working 2 shifts at that time.

These old letter heads with the neat graphics showing the factory or their product are interesting. Notice the smoke coming out of the chimneys, they were working. Quite a large factory by 1908.

They not only got raises.......Hart-Parr Company was very civic minded and treated their employees well even building, selling and financing houses to company workers. An early form of health insurance was also provided and even a "social club" was maintained for them among other benefits.
