Well Mc Duffie (sp) was around in Milton at that time, he owned the farm right next door to me (hence why some still refer to it as "The Jumping Deere Ranch" they held movie days for the kids (JD movies) and parents could come out to the farm to test the newest JD tractors and equipment

John, your profile picture should give a very good clue to another prominent J.D. dealer. Alan Byers Equipment was founded in 1949 on the same location it operates to this day.
I recall talking with Alan quite a few years ago, and at some point he had managed to purchase back the first J.D. he ever sold, and added it to his collection. That is Alan pictured on the S-M engine on this years Steam Era poster pic.

Hi John: I had in January made plans to have the Labour Day weekend off in order to attend the show. Infact I had been toying with the idea of trying to bring the Sawyer as it had once been owned by Gord Smith. This was not to be, as we had sold our house in June and our new property closed on August 31st. I thought better than to toddle off to a show. Both Alan's Sawyer and the Bell suffered. I gather the damage to the Sawyer would have been worse had the 36-50 Peerless threshing machine not been sitting beside it.

Regards,...........Robert

Not sure what year he started into Deere, but I believe old Fred Pook in Harrow Ontario has been in it for a long time.

John, I did forget to mention that Alan's son Rob is or should be, still directly asscoiated with the family dealership.
